Bonobo - "Duals" Song of the Day [7/5/2014}

Tropical House artist Bonobo released a new tune from his upcoming EP a few days ago. Duals starts off very similar to Bonobo's other works, especially on his The North Borders LP from last year. With chopped samples and organic percussion, Bonobo creates a very chill vibe. As the kick drum and bassline drop, the tropical, simple mood remains. Duals is a perfect example of the signature crispness in Bonobo's sound. Each instrument has its own unique sound that does not interfere with the sound of the others. And each sound is very elemental and organic, rather than synthetic and digital. This is a must listen for any fans of chilled back electronic music.

Lana Del Rey - "West Coast" (Camo & Krooked Remix)

The Drum N Bass duo, Camo & Krooked, released a washed out lush remix they did of pop star Lana Del Rey's recently released West Coast. They start the remix with Lana's vocals slowed down floating over a growing wobbly synth. As the synth fades in, we can feel the buried energy slowly coming alive into a minimal DnB drop. The way Camo & Krooked synthesize the chill vibes of trip-hop and classical Drum N Bass with Lana's soothing, ominous vocals is completely flawless. Every sound complements every other and while this remix is in essence a chill one, it has more energy than a classical EDM tune.

Tor - "Circles"

Released only a couple of hours ago, downtempo producer Tor's Circles takes a very ethereal and exotic approach to trip-hop. Similar to the style of his LP Drum Therapy, this tune has its main base in an organic, non-traditional hip-hop beat. It is then layered with lush and heavenly melodies and a soft bassline.
Tor is an up and coming artist looking to contribute his unique meditative and transcendental style to the rapidly growing downtempo electronic scene. He was signed to Emancipator's Loci Records late last year and toured with Emancipator on his famous 2013 Winter Tour.
