Paul McCartney and Wings - "Arrow Through Me" - SOTD - [6/30/15]

Here's an amazing single from the album Back To The Egg by Paul McCartney and Wings called "Arrow Through Me." Super funky and beautiful, with just the right touch of class. Sir Paul McCartney is a true living legend, and he is literally musical royalty since being knighted back in 1997 by the Order of the British Empire. There is no one on the planet who has more credentials than Sir Paul McCartney. Some would call him the most successful performer and composer of all time and that is hard to argue. Enjoy the smooth funk of "Arrow Through Me" and have a wonderful Tuesday.

Dillon Francis – "Bruk Bruk (I Need Your Lovin)" - Song Of The Day - 6/29/2015

Happy Monday to all on this amazing Monday! After much anticipation,  late last night Dillon Francis released the first track off of his new Moombahton EP. "Bruk Bruk (I Need Your Lovin)" brings me back to the old days of Dillon Francis where I can first remember him. It's so awesome to see him going back to his roots that we all love so much. Not to say that his new album was upsetting by any means, but this is definitely a fresh sound from Dillon to balance out Money Sucks Friends Rule. The release of his EP This Mixtape Is Fire  is set for August 14th. It will include seven tracks with names like Calvin Harris, Chromeo, Bro Safari, and the one we've all been waiting for, Skrillex.

Skream - "Anticipate" (Netsky Remix) - Song of the Day - [6-27-15]

This is an amazing DnB remix of the song "Anticipate" by Skream. In this version Netsky blows the minds of the people and kicks it fast and proper. Classic track and an even more killer remix.

MUST DIE! - "Project Ghost" - Song of the Day - [6/26/15]

MUST DIE! has one of the hardest songs out there with "Project Ghost." From the album Death and Magic comes a mean dubstep song that is sure to stick in your head for a while. No time is wasted getting to the drop, just a few samples from a speak and spell and then boosh! MUST DIE! will be a Beta Nightclub tonight in Denver along with LAXX and SKisM for a huge Never Say Die Records throw-down.

Omar LinX - "The Wild" - Song of the Day - [6-25-15]

Today we have the latest installment from a kick ass hip-hop lyricist Omar LinX called "The Wild." This video is done in a very artsy fashion using a style of animation similar to abstract paintings. You may have heard the name Omar LinX from his collaborations with Zeds Dead and many others. He has an in-your-face style of rhyming, almost like he is constantly battle rapping. He is very clever in coming up with similes and comparisons. You can check out more from Omar LinX on his official soundcloud page here.

Aphex Twin - "Little Funny Man" - Song of the Day - [6-24-15]

Growing up I couldn't ever get enough of the odd music Aphex Twin put into the world. Richard D. James was way ahead of his time and he probably always will be. "Little Funny Man" was definitely one of my favorites from the album Come To Daddy. There are so many things going on in all of his productions but I would describe this song as twisted, funky, and brilliant. So, "Come on little funny man" lets indulge in Aphex Twin and remember our roots.

RIOT - "Daggering" - Song of the Day - [6/23/15]

This is a hard bass track from RIOT called "Daggering." The song starts off all slow and nice with some twisted melodies, then even more simple and sweet for the build. But then at the drop, boom! The band is made up of two producers RiMbY & Niko The Kid. "Daggering" is a type of electro dubstep song with a lot of style. You can find more from RIOT on the duos official youtube page here.

Backstreet Boys - "Everybody" (Apashe x Oski x Lennon Bootleg) - Song Of The Day - 6/22/2015

Happy Monday again everyone! Today I've got a fresh new bootleg that literally JUST came out. Initially I heard this during Milo & Otis' Ultra Music Festival set, and needless I couldn't get enough of the small snipped they allowed us to hear. Combined efforts from Apashe, Oski and Lennon have made this a perfect combination of a throwback and a banger. The first drop is massive, both fat and heavy with the synth following the same notes in the original. When you first hear it..... your just like(insert expletive here). As the second verse comes in, the track gains speed as an uptempo version of the first drop. It's got a more house type of feel at this point. It kind of reminds me of the sounds of "Deep Down Low". Hope you like this one as much as I do. Enjoy!

Yonder Mountain String Band - "Annalee" - Song of the Day (6/20/15)

Article: Kyle Sutton
Welcome to the first installment of Saturday Morning Bluegrass! This week's featured artist: Yonder Mountain String Band.

YMSB first hit the scene in 1998, a quartet at the time. The band would go on to make an instant splash in the world of acoustic music. Their overall style is rooted in traditional bluegrass, but is progressive, mixing in rock and mind-blowing improvisation.

After 17 years of making music and touring relentlessly, YMSB shows no signs of slowing down. The band went through a lineup change last year when founding mandolin player Jeff Austin decided to pursue a solo-career but we will just call that a small hump in the road. Soon after Austin's departure, the three remaining members Adam Aijala, Ben Kaufmann, and Dave Johnston continued to tour, playing with whoever they could find to sit in. From the beginning two stood out, fiddle player Allie Kral and mandolin player Jacob Joliff. The two are now official members of the band.

Earlier this week YMSB, as a 5-piece, released a new album entitled "Black Sheep," through their own Frog Pad Records. The album sums up a long career of pushing boundaries and breaking down barriers. Its bluegrass, but with a spin.

Without further ado, here is "Annalee" off of the new album (available on the YMSB band page).

ODESZA - "Koto" - Song of the Day - [6/19/15]

ODESZA has a number of astounding songs that take you on a journey through music and space. They have a way of keeping it so chill that you fall into a daydream. Here is "Koto" a perfect track for a mental road-trip into the subconscious mind. This is from the album In Return released last September. ODESZA is amazing so definitely peep more from them on their official soundcloud page here.

Buku - "All Deez" - Song of the Day - [6/18/15]

Here is a true club banger from Buku, one of the best trap producers out there. "All Deez" is full of interesting sounds and mastered brilliantly. Buku does a lot more in his productions than many trap producers, and that's why he is one of the best. Rather than just a simple snare and kick Buku involves a number of different tweaked bass-lines that intersect. There are also a lot of unfamiliar sounds, brand new uses of intriguing tripped out airhorns and whatever else Buku wants to blend into the beat. Get it poppin off today with Buku.

The Rakes - "22 Grand Job (Filthy Dukes Society remix)" - SOTD [6-17-15]

A twist on a punk rock jam from The Rakes this version is slowed down by the Filthy Dukes Society. A lot is added to the remix including electronic elements, while also mellowing out the pace of the song. In the original version by The Rakes they have a much faster beat and different features to the song. The Rakes have a clapping section and the whole song is just about 2 minutes total. It's cool to listen to both versions to see a transition from indie/punk rock into a sort of industrial/new wave rock remix. Flithy Dukes Society starts the song the same way but the drums immediately set the tone saying that it's going to slow way down. Rock out both versions and see which one you like better.

DJ Snake & AlunaGeorge - "You Know You Like It" - SOTD - [6/16/15]

For the last couple years DJ Snake has been everywhere. His music has been the climax of many other producer's live sets, and he has been nominated and awarded by multiple outlets for his productions. He really made a huge splash with "Turn Down For What" a club banger featuring Lil Jon. Then his fame grew even more with another giant track he released with Dillon Francis called "Get Low." This is the most recent blockbuster track "You Know You Like It." It is already so far reaching that it has been getting mainstream radio play as well as the big rooms and clubs around the country. DJ Snake is also excellent with remixing songs and making them even sicker. "You Know You Like It" features the vocals of AlunaGeorge adding even more skills to an already perfect beat. You can get more info on tour dates and the latest news on the official DJ Snake website here.

Jhené Aiko - "Spotless Mind" (Wet Paint Remix) - Song Of The Day - 6/15/2015

Happy Monday to all! Today's song of the day comes from north of the border duo, Wet Paint. James Gaudet and Dan Shanahan have been working together on music since 2012. This electro/funk tag team from Montreal has a great catalog of both original works and remixes including three EP's. For today I'd like to highlight one of my favorite remixes by them, Jhené Aiko's "Spotless Mind". Jhené Aiko's voice is so soothing and calm over the background horn section. I love how they play with her voice chopping it up. This track has an RnB, super chill type of feel to it. Make sure to check out Wet Paint on soundcloud to keep up with their latest music, who knows when they'll release something else!

Savant @ Beta in Denver, Colorado (Review) [6-11-15]

Review By: Justin D'Amico

Thursday was a special night for NRG Thursday at Beta Nightclub in Denver Colorado. The one and only Savant came through with an arsenal of amazing music. He also brought along his good friend and fellow mixologist Jelo. The two had the place bouncing so hard it was unreal. It was probably the illest NRG Thursday ever.

Opening the night was Sang Dinh a Denver DJ with a lot of style. He pumped out some techno and house beats to get things started. Next up was Cognition & T-Rav a duo also representing Denver proud.

The energy in the room went through the roof when Jelo came into the booth. As to be expected with his hyper beating heart electro music. Jelo is one of the best artists on Section Z Records, and he pairs up rather well with Savant. For this show Jelo let the afro flow out, and he has quite a head of hair. His headphones will barely go over his head right now!

Jelo is a very entertaining DJ to watch live, with his music he dances and instructs the crowd when to jump at the drops. He also does a great job on the hype tip, keeping the crowd fired up. At the end of his set he pointed out how stressful it is to open for a mastermind like Savant, but also that he loves how it keeps him on point to mix a unique set every night. Jelo also did a little introduction for Savant using his headphones as a microphone, a clever tactic many wouldn't know to do. He told the crowd "You guys are awesome sauce tonight!"

Savant came out a went right to work, he started with a mash-up of about ten songs in the first few minutes of the set. One of the incredible mashes was blending Daft Punk into the Beverly Hills Cop theme song. Then he went into DJ Dan "Renegade Master" mashed up with his brilliant Nintendo beats. From there Savant started to blast out more of his massive library of original music.

Savant got into almost every one of his albums at some point in the set. He did a lot of the music from his most recent release Invasion. Also taking us back into the days of Vario with songs like "Splinter" and "Hero From The Past." The coolest part was near the end of the set where he played "Melody Circus" and so perfectly slowed the beat down to create a new ending for the track live in the mix. The final song was one many were waiting to hear, the powerful track "Sledgehammer." He made a few adjustments to create a new feel for the crowd, and again he wound down the beat into an exquisite finish where the song slowed to a single note and faded out.

This was like no other Thursday ever before in my life. It was so cool to hear the beautiful sounds of Savant coming out of the speakers at Beta Nightclub. He made some of the naughtiest bass amplify through the room and into the souls of the people. I am excited for the future with Savant continuing to produce immaculate music at an incomprehensible rate of speed. Big shout out to Jelo for making the trip to Denver for this show, and everyone else who made this night so fun.

Vibe Street - "Something From Outer Space" - Song of the Day - 6/14/15 [FREE DOWNLOAD]

Ben Davis, AKA Vibe Street has some really funky music coming out lately. A producer who essentially coined the genre "Grass-hop/future-folk" to describe the type of music he creates. Today's song of the day is from an EP titled "She Makes Me Feel" and is a twist on the famous Buddy Guy's "What Kind of Woman Is This". "Something From Outer Space" has a really funky vibe and great guitar riffs all around. Vibe Street grabs its roots from Trumbull, CT but is now based out of Colorado. Be sure to be on the lookout for Vibe Street this summer at festivals near you!

Tipper - "Covered in Lobsters" - Song of the Day (6/13/15)

Today's song of the day comes straight from mind of electronic and glitch-hop mastermind David Tipper, or Tipper for short.

"Covered in Lobsters" comes off of Tipper's 2011 EP "Bubble Control." Tipper has been known to dabble in all sorts of strange sounds to get his desired outcome, this song in particular is more of his glitch-hop, dance style. Enjoy!

Flux Pavilion - "Daydreamer" (Dillon Francis Remix) - Song Of The Day - 6/11/15

In preparation for the new Flux Pavilion album, We travel back a few years to enjoy "Daydreamer" once again. The hit track of 2012 took over the dubstep genre, along with all other Flux tracks. Receiving a rework from Dillon Francis, the movement began. Nothing beats the old moobah style that Dillon brought to the table and this is a prime example.

Head over to iTunes and secure your copy of the new single "International Anthem" from Flux Pavilion & Doctor!

Disclosure - "Bang That" - Song of the Day - [6/9/15]

The duo known as Disclosure has been on top of the deep house scene for a while now. They are from England and also brothers, Howard and Guy Lawerence. Together they get clubs all over the world bumping house. This is "Bang That" a naughty beat with a message, party until you pass out! Well, something like that. Go one deeper today as DJ Hanzel would say with fresh house at it's finest. You can stream more music from Disclosure on their official soundcloud page here.

Bear Grillz & TrollPhace - Marijuana - Song Of The Day - 6/8/2015

Heavy hitting Dubstep producers TrollPhace and Bear Grillz are back with a new track, "Marijuana". As part of Bear Grillz & Friends: Volume 2. This compilation features Bear Grillz collaborations with Getter, ETC!ETC!, DJ BL3ND and of course TrollPhace. It's got an overall nasty and hard feel to this EP."Marijuana" has that jammy, Reggae vibe in the intro as would probably be expected from a track titled "Marijuana". The classic organ sound really pulls that vibe together. Along with that comes the infamous grimy and bouncy sound TrollPhace is so very well known for. Be on the lookout for further work from either of these two artists. I have had the opportunity of catching both of them within the past few months and they do not disappoint.

Woolymammoth - "Lord" - Song of the Day - 6/7/15

A young producer out of San Francisco, CA named Woolymammoth has been coming out with some heavy trap beats. Recently signed by Mad Decent Records, the new artist hasn't released an official debut album just yet. However, he has a good amount of singles and EP's with plenty to listen to. Today's song of the day is titled "Lord" and gets its name from the famous monologue Samuel L. Jackson recites in one of my favorite movies, Pulp Fiction. If you haven't seen the movie, I highly suggest you go see it now. If you like what you hear check out more of what Woolymammoth has to offer on his Soundcloud and follow him on Facebook.

Skrillex (Ft. Ragga Twins) - "All Is Fair in Love and Brostep" - Song of the Day - 06/6/2015

Today's song of the day comes to you from the most recent album put out by Sonny Moore, aka Skrillex, titled "Recess". The shared song is called "All is Fair in Love and Brostep" and gained popularity due to its similarity between a track put out by Zomboy labeled "Terror Squad" which came out a few months before Skrillex album dropped in 2014. According to a few twitter messages between the two there is seemingly no beef between the two producers. Zomboy did admit to being at a party where Sonny was playing some ideas for his new album and may have held onto the vibe of a specific DJ tool he heard there which inspired his song. The two are actually good friends and Zomboy has credited Skrillex for the sole reason he got into writing electronic music. Enjoy the track below and watch the trippy (not official) music video that someone put together.

Explosions in the Sky - "The Only Moment We Were Alone" - Song of the Day - 6/5/2015

What better way to ring in summer than by an Explosions in the Sky jam sesh? The windows are open, the days are longer, the nights are better, and love is in the air; and there is no better way to celebrate love than by listening to this band.
Originating in Texas circa 1999, they have expanded and tugged at the heartstrings of millions across the globe. They first blew up because of the exposure their tracks had on the show "Friday Night Lights," as well as many other shows and movies. This song, "The Only Moment We Were Alone," was featured in Michael Moore's documentary "Capitalism: A Love Story." However, when I think about this song, in no way, shape, or form am I contemplating the aspects of capitalism. However, it does bring to question the idea that music, love, and human connection should overrule any type of evil system such as capitalism.
This band just gets you right in the feels, and will hopefully continue to do so for years and years to come, because music doesn't get much better than this.

The Doors - "The Wasp (Texas Radio and the Big Beat)" - Song of the Day - 6/3/15

From Left To Right: Robbie Kreiger, Ray Manzarek, John Densmore, Jim Morrison

"Texas Radio" refers to high power Mexican radio stations that blasted into Texas in the 1950s. Not restricted by American regulations these stations, whose call letters started with X, could have up to 150,000 watts. Morrison wrote the lyrics years before this was recorded, and used to perform it as a poem.

Apparently, according to unverified sources, "The verse, "Comes out of the Virginia swamps cool and slow with plenty of precision with a back beat narrow and hard to master" is most likely a reference to Morrison's first real experience with the music scene. From 1958 to 1960 Morrison lived in Alexandria, Virginia and frequented the Juke Joints (blues clubs) on Route 1 just north of Fort Belvoir where Black Blues musicians would play on Friday and Saturday nights. That area where the Juke Joints used to be is right on the eastern edge of a swamp."

Either way, we love this damn song.

R.I.P. Jim.

R.I.P. Ray.

Billy Joel - "Movin' Out" (LIVE in 1978) - Song of the Day - [6/2/15]

This is a beautiful song from a legend in music, Billy Joel. "Movin' Out" tells a great story about how relationships and situations change, and then at a certain point it's time to move out. This seems fitting to me because I may have to move again soon. The Piano Man is such a pro, and most of his music is simply outstanding. Get groovy today and jam out to classic Billy Joel music.

Gesaffelstein - "Pursuit" - Song Of The Day - 6/1/2015

Well today's Song Of The Day comes out of the gloomy weather I or anyone else has been experiencing this past weekend. Not that this track is gloomy or anything but it definitely has some dark vibes with it. Though Gesaffelstein is no longer doing live performances we can still sit in the glory of his superb Techno/Industrial music. "Pursuit" was the first track I had heard from Gesaffelstein and I was hooked from that point on. At the time I didn't know much about this type of music but I couldn't get enough of those sounds playing through the speakers. "Pursuit" reminds me of something you'd hear in a spy movie with lots of action and intensity. The main, heavy synth pattern is almost infectious and once you hear it you can't get it out of your head. The vibes in this song are almost chilling and have some much emotion. You could literally start a rally with this track, it's that strong.
