Jim Grim - "The Perfect Dance"

Here's a perfect piece of glitch-hop music from one of my favorite electronic composers, Jim Grim. He, like many of the most creative producers today, comes from the SectionZ Records crew. "The Perfect Dance" is a little peek into the next album from Jim Grim, called Ifomi. His intentions are to disseminate this record a special way. Each song will be individually put out via social media outlets. Then once all 15 tracks are released Jim Grim has promised to make the whole album available for free. I am fired up to hear what Jim Grim has been working on.


He describes his motivation for the album and the meaning behind the title in the quote below.


"This album is dedicated to Ingelin Flåen Olsen, Aka IFO. The girl I love. The meaning of this album was originally not ment to be shared as it was kind of "private" or internal to understand, but whatever, I've decided I want to share it with all of you. Why? Well, I'm quite fond of sharing experience in general, and I can't really find a reason to not share it to those who are interested in reading about it. For all you others, just skip reading. Alright anyway, the album was supposed to cover a series of events that happened within in a period of my life last year. Kai Wachi - Flo$$ - Song of the Day - 3/20/2015 [FREE DOWNLOAD]

I have been an avid follower of Kai Wachi for the past year for his heavy dub and mind-melting trap sounds in his tracks that always make the walls shake. I was disappointed to hear a few months ago that he was potentially facing up to 20 years in prison for being a part of an 11-person drug reign that sold up to 5,000 oxycodone pills a month. Although it is a given this wasn't the best decision made by the producer-DJ, he still made massive beats that I loved to bump, and it was disheartening to hear of his potential incarceration.

However, to my delight, I learned the news that he was bailed out of jail and let off on the punishment, therefore able to continue making the amazing music I had listened to and loved all throughout this past year, and hopefully learning his lesson and realizing what he had been risking. I'm sure all of his fans and followers like myself were very happy to hear of his return and hope that he continues on the path of music production instead of drug dealing.

A native of Boise, Idaho, at the ripe age of 19, Kai Wachi never fails to bring hard-hitting headbangers to the table that I hear being dropped at only the best of DJ sets and shows. Take a peak at his latest "Flo$$" below (there's also a link to download!) and be prepared to be amazed.

Nick Weiller or as you may know him Bro Safari is a one of a kind producer. He has been a part of many amazing collaboration bands but when he goes solo he is Bro Safari. Weiller is a part of the trio Evol Intent with Ashley Jones and Michael Diasio. He has also done work with Kill The Noise and they form the band Ludachrist. Bro Safari has a diverse range of styles mastered, this track is from the moombahcore perspective. Weiller when with Evol Intent kicks out the fast paced drum and bass music, and some of his early solo productions are slowed way down into moombahton. He now dabbles with trap and many other sub genres of electronic music, and he collaborates with more people all the time including UFO! - another awesome electronic producer. SrRealist is a South Dakota based producer that I happen to be pretty good friends with. I had known he was making music in his spare time and had a history as a musician, but then one conversation led to another and he agreed to let me premiere his EP, Credulity, through this very blog a year ago this month. I find this EP evokes emotion in the listener and carries them along meticulously crafted soundscapes into a different plane of musical enjoyment. Yeah, let's go with that.

A.G. Cook - "Beautiful" - Rustie Edit - Song of the Day - 1/23/2015 [FREE DOWNLOAD]

My man Rustie outdoes himself again with this rework of A.G. Cook's electro beat "Beautiful." Cook's original track is a much more pop and techno-influenced sound, but Rustie never fails to swoop in and create a sound that, in my opinion, is much deeper and more (as the title states) beautiful. He speeds and pitch shifts the vocals and builds up toward a brilliant drop at 1:07, after which he slows down the tempo, creating a trap-like, cloud rap feel that is just too delicious - there is no way you won't find yourself bouncing to this song. 

Rustie released his latest album "Green Language" this past August, and has received wonderful feedback on it as well as other projects he has delved into, especially his awesome collaborations with Danny Brown and AlunaGeorge. Rustie no doubt runs with the big boys, belonging to the UK-based record label Lucky Me, alongside the likes of Hudson Mohawke, Baauer, Cashmere Cat, and S-Type.

He's currently on tour traveling around the UK and near his home parts of Scotland. You can take a listen and download his track for free below. Enjoy!

Earlier today I talked to Trill Clinton and ask a few questions about the New Year and future plans for himself as well as Cameron Oakley. Read them all below!




1. With 2014 behind us, Would you say 2015 is going to be "your year"? 
 "Yes, I do believe it will be. 2014 was a great year and I want to build on the success that we have had and continue to do the things we need to get our name and tracks out there to even more people."
2. How did you and Cameron Oakley decide you wanted to do B2B's?
 "We have always practiced B2B at home and we found that we work really well with each other. We both have our styles that we bring to the table and once we had enough practice together we figured we could bring it to the club and make it a great show."
3. Biggest inspiration? 
 "Diplo"
4. Any upcoming releases? 
 "We are currently working on 2 new tracks together & we have a finished tune that will be a free release coming out in the next month."
5. Favorite moment(s) of 2014? 
 "Favorite moment's of 2014 was playing React's Forever Festival at Freedom Hill in Detroit, MI & being direct support for LOUDPVCK at Elektricity in Pontiac, MI."

Kaster - "Rage Quit" - Song of the Day - [1/6/15]

Kaster goes hard with this electro track "Rage Quit" from his album Extended Play. He's had this song in his pocket for a little while now, it was originally posted to soundcloud a couple years ago and it became a part of his debut album. "Rage Quit" and a bunch of other songs also available for free download just by liking the Official Kaster Facebook page. This was the opening song to a his set at The Works in Detroit back in April of 2013, the one time I got to see him live. Kaster is really talented at a number of different electronic sub-genres, and he is one of the elite electronic music producers signed with the label Section Z. Definitely keep an eye on this guy, he is getting better with every new release.

Sum 41 - 'In Too Deep' (Kasum Remix) - Song Of The Day (1/5/15)

Today's song of the day comes with a side order of Nostalgia for all my 90's kids, well probably for most people reading this. One of the most well known Sum 41 songs got a great face lift from New York producer, Kasum. This remix brings all the feels of an awesome progressive house track, especially the infectious piano playing over the vocals. This song has a very natural flowing feel to it almost as if this was an original. Minimal editing to the vocals add to that feeling as well. Another great thing about this remix is likability. Playing this at any party(whether DJing or using your aux chord magic) will surely bring together a singalong that everyone can be apart of. Best part, its FREE!
