MSTRKRFT - "The Looks" - Song of the Day - [2/28/15]

MSTRKRFT is a duo made up of Jesse F. Keeler and Alex Puodziukas two friends who have been all over the map in musical production going all the way back to the late 70's. They first started making music as MSTRKRFT in 2005. Together they come up with all kinds of cool ideas, and they have made a lot of unique remixes for a number of popular bands including Katy Perry, Justice, Wolfmother, and Metric. This song "The Looks" comes from MSTRKRFT's album also called The Looks, an awesome record with a ton of energy.

Unlike Pluto & KickRaux - Palace [Free Download]

The surprise collaboration between Unlike Pluto and KickRaux was of instant interest for me. With all of the hype behind the most recent remix of Diplo's "Revolution" by Unlike Pluto, there was no doubt that new material from the rising artist would impress. Released on the label known as Mad Decent, "Palace" gives a look into the future of bass music. Although the collaboration was unexpected and somewhat unfit, the sound they put out together dominates. KickRaux, Known for his large involvement in the hip hop scene, has been putting out tracks since before you even knew. Slowly rising to fame, the talented vetaran shows his experience with every new release. "Palace" is available for free download on Mad Decent's soundcloud!

Mynth - Nightlight [Catt Moop Remix] - Song of the Day - 2/27/2015 [FREE DOWNLOAD]

Mynth is an electronic pop group originating in Vienna, Austria. They are but a bud waiting to bloom into a magnificent flower; they are just starting off and their sound is already insanely beautiful and original. Their debut EP "Polar Night" was released on February 6th, just in time for the drop of this crazy remix of their most popular of the four tracks, "Nightlight," a rework done carefully by one of the two in the duo Hydrabadd: Catt Moop. (pictured right)
Straight out of ATL, the duo has been on the rise for a few years now, creating a sound not like many others, and Catt Moop does not let down on his solo projects. This remix takes the melodic and progressive sound of Mynth and transforms it into a dark and dirty trap snack. With the drop at 1:30, he builds it up beautifully beforehand and incorporates Hydrabadd's chimey chords throughout afterward, dropping once more at 3:15 into the heavy bass that calls for a round of applause from many trap artists today that seem to lack that unique sound that Catt Moop isn't afraid to experiment with. Be sure to check out not only this dope remix, but the original track as well, and the rest of Mynth's brand new EP available now on Amazon. It won't disappoint.

Gramatik Mix

Slovenian-born producer Denis Jasarevic, better known by his stage name Gramatik, recently did an interview with Thump. Harnessing the idea that all music should be made free to download, Gramaik has almost revolutionized the way music is obtained. As he puts it perfectly himself "freeing music by making music free". This has resonated throughout much of the music scene as many big name artists have followed suit making their music accessible for free downloads through various websites and torrent browsers. Along with the interview, Gramatik has put together a nice 50-minute mix of some super chill and funky tracks. You can find the interview here along with the track list, but I've included the mix below for your enjoyment.

moe. - "Plane Crash" (live) - Song of the Day - 2/25/15

Moe. has been tearing it up since the late 80's and they show no signs of stopping. Here's them playing a fan favorite of their's and you can't deny they've got a good thing going. During an interview, guitarist Al Schnier was asked to describe moe. for those who have never heard their music: "It's an amalgamation of a wide variety of the history of rock, all regurgitated and recycled through the eyes, ears, hands, whatever of the guys in our band and all of that with a sense of adventure, a sense of humor, also a constant desire to push the envelope. All in this arena of taking chances, improvising live, and making things up on the spot."

12th Planet, Skrillex & Kill The Noise - "Burst" ft. GMCFOSHO - SOTD - [2/24/15] me this still remains one of the most hype tracks in recent electronic history. Having 12th Planet team up with Skrillex and Kill The Noise makes for a intense collaboration. The three have each become headliners, and now all three are founders of different record labels. Skrillex may be the most notable having created an empire out of his brand OWSLA, with a ton of talent all over the electronic spectrum. 12th Planet has his label SMOG Records kickin out the funky fresh beats too. Kill The Noise now too is a record label executive with Slow Roast Records along with partner DJ Craze. The final piece of the puzzle is GMCFOSHO who provides that "Burst" and the swag, completing the epic production for this hugely popular track.

Modestep - "Machines"

A brand new track came out today from Modestep and it rips. This is an early sample of the upcoming album London Road called "Machines." Whats really cool about Modestep is how they perform and record as a full band. They are definitely an electronic group, but there is a lot more to the band than just DJs. They have a very new school sound mixing both rock and electronic to perfection. The band is made up of Pat Modestep on live drums, Ky Modestep on guitar and Tony Modestep DJing and on guitar. They also have a killer singer as well in Josh Modestep, everyone in the band has adopted the last name Modestep. Get your fix today because it's going to be a little bit before the new album is set to drop, the official release date isn't until May 25th. You can pre-order London Road by following the link to itunes.

DJs Drop Dead - "Los Muertos' - Song Of The Day - 2/23/2015

In the past, my song of the day choices have featured more of a deeper/future house type of vibe going on. Today I want to change that with some energy with a new track from DJs Drop Dead. This progressive house track will help get you through this cold time and already thinking of festival season! Overall this track reminds me of something I'd be hearing in a big warehouse rave(yeah, remember when those used to be things?) with the hard festival drop added along. The main lead synth slightly reminded me of trance as well. Overall a great track and there will be plenty more coming from DJs Drop Dead. Be sure to follow on Facebook and Twitter. Enjoy!

MitiS is all over the place with this song "Time," an oldie but a goodie from about 3 years ago. MitiS is a producer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who has a huge number of influences, including classical composers. With this song he goes from dubstep, to drumstep, to electro, and even into drum and bass all in one song. Check out more from MitiS on his official soundcloud here. Bossfight - "Glitch Gremlin"

One of the coolest glitch hop tracks I've heard in a minute. It's Bossfight with a brand new song "Glitch Gremlin" a rad twist of both chiptune sounds, and a hip hop flow. They are a trio from Sweden - Erik Sjöstrand, Robin Jensen, and Sebastian Persson all together they form Bossfight. Tons of nostalgia is built into their music, and I love it. I always unwind with some classic video games, and this sick bass puts me in a chill mood. You know what I'm sayin, just kickin it! Peep out more from Bossfight on their official Soundcloud, and on Youtube.

Vexare - "Polar" - Song of the Day - (2/21/15)

This is an awesome song by Palmer Hogen or as you probably know him Vexare. He's a young producer out of the Los Angeles area continuing to amaze the electronic music community with his intense melodic tracks. This song "Polar" shows off some of Vexare's piano skills. He is very adept in carefully placing sounds and samples into his productions to where they perfectly compliment the whole piece. You can check out more from Vexare on spoitify here.

Sia - Elastic Heart [Clams Casino Remix] - Song of the Day - 2/20/2015

Clams Casino brings us a new remix after what seems like years in hiatus, having released his latest mixtape Instrumentals 3 in 2013 - although he has been keeping extremely busy, working and producing beats for talented and current artists such as Schoolboy Q, FKA Twigs, and Foster the People. His most current project included helping out ASAP Ferg on his latest album Ferg Forever in 2014. And to my great surprise, he casually dropped this remix on his Soundcloud about two weeks ago. He chose a beautiful track to transform into Clammy Clams perfection; "Elastic Heart" was featured on the soundtrack of the second Hunger Games installation Catching Fire, with vocals by the Grammy-nominated singer Sia and production by the prestigious Diplo. Clams's unique and notorious sound is gloriously recognizable in this rework; the sharp chords and ethereal melody make for another admirable addition to all of the impressive work Clams has always put out. You can listen below if you haven't already jumped the gun!

Hotmoon - "What If" (Premiere)

The young up and comer known as Hotmoon has began his rise and from the looks of it, there may be no end. Coming out of the suburbs of Michigan, the distinguished sound sucks you in and doesn't seem to let go. Expressing a very good look on Future music, the spacey synths develop an uplifting aspect to the track. With the ambient drum and bass, it brings out the surprise factor. The slow progression greatly builds a pool of anticipation that engulfs you at its end.

Enjoy this track from Hotmoon? There is much more coming and it's only getting better! Head over to the following pages for new music and updates:

Dave Matthews Band - "Warehouse" (Live .6/16/12) - Song of the Day - 2/18/15

Everyone knows of Dave Matthews Band and I would go out on a limb and say they're a love 'em or hate 'em type of thing for most people. Regardless of personal music preferences, these guys are some talented musicians. Here's a live rendition of "Warehouse" from Bristow, Virginia.

Acting Damage - Into The Jungle [Clip]

It's always such a tease when given only clips of these heavy dubstep tracks, but what is to come is always worth the wait. Acting Damage is an Australian based project that has dominated a once thought to be dead sound. The eerie darkness that lies behind dubstep sets a mood that no other music can touch on and when done right, it expands to an entire different level. Dig this track? Head over to Soundcloud and give Acting Damage a follow for more unique bass music and new releases!

Pendulum - "Crush" - Song of the Day - [2/17/15]

Pendulum was a one of a kind full band that kicked out the drum and bass beats. Looking back they were a sort of super group, as they are now mostly members of other killer bands. Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen make up the hugely popular electro group Knife Party. KJ Swaka their former drummer is now a member of the futuristic robot group Destroid. And Paul Harding the drum and bass guru still represents Pendulum doing DJ sets from time to time. The other former members of the band are Ben Mount, and Peredur ap Gwynedd. I am bummed that I wasn't able to see the group together, and they are most likely never getting back together. But any time that Paul Harding comes through to do a DJ set, you best believe I'll be there. This is the official video for "Crush" from the album Immersion.

ASTR - "No Type" (Rae Sremmurd Cover) - Song Of The Day - 2/16/15

I'd say most people by now, whether they've wanted to or not, have heard the song "No Type" by Rae Sremmurd. Well today's Song Of The Day is a beautiful twist on one of the hottest tracks of 2014. ASTR turns this one down a bit keeping a chill vibe with amazing vocals to match. They have done a great job of making this rap song feel more like an electronic R&B track. It definitely still feels like an ASTR original which shows how creative they are as a group. The New York duo has been putting out music like this for a while and they've nailed it on the head with this cover. I urge you to check out mor of their music. Enjoy!

Doja Cat - Give It Up x FWDSLXSH - Song of the Day - 2/13/2015

Doja Cat is an up-and-coming female rap prodigy who will only continue moving up and up. LA-born and raised, this 19-year old is amazingly young for her impressive talents; she is a strong vocalist as well as rapper and lyricist, all of which she brings to this original melodic track composed by London-based producer FWDSLXSH (pronounced Forward Slash.) The combination of Doja's hair-rasing vocals and FWDSLXSH's euphoric production, in which he utilizes Rihanna's "You Da One" acapella, raising those vocals as well as the bar on the original track, creates a futuristic R&B soul feeling mixed with Doja's fierceness in her flow. She even asks us "Who be the coldest bitch?" I think that's you, Doja. At the very least, her delivery and beat selection certainly doesn't disappoint. Listen and decide for yourself if this is the new princess of the rap game.

Eptic - "Oh Snap" - Song of the Day - [2-12-15]

This is a naughty dubstep track from Eptic, one of the elite producers on Never Say Die Records. Eptic kicks out the bass harder than most, and he always knows how to insert a bad ass sample in just the right spot. You can get more music from Eptic through his soundcloud page here.

La Roux - "Reflections Are Protections" - Song of the Day - (2-11-15)

This is an awesome track from La Roux called "Reflections Are Protections." Most people have heard of La Roux because their self-titled debut album was so awesome. The band was made up of singer Elly Jackson and producer Ben Langmaid. They have since broken up, but their beautiful music still lives on.

This song comes from a compilation called The Shady Bunch, which includes tracks from Flux Pavilion, Doctor P, Mizuki, Brown and Gammon, Cookie Monsta and more. Every new Circus Records compilation has tons of hype. Funtcase represents the old style of doing things, just straight up bass in your face dubstep. Ghastly - "Bitch U Ghastly" - Song Of The Day - 2/9/2015

Today's song of the day goes one deeper with a twist on a new rap favorite. Ghastly is an up and coming house producer, taking on similarities of some of the biggest names in house.  This remix of "Bitch U Guessed It" is unlike any other one you are likely to hear. Imagine the sickest deep house song out right now then add in some amazing vocal work along with that classic piano line and that would be this. Deep bass lines and dark sounds are all throughout this track, and once the drop hits all you can literally say is...damn. While this track is very different from its original, it doesn't change too much to highlight the qualities of the original. Overall, a great remix from a name that you should be hearing more of. Enjoy!

The Presidents of the United States of America - "Boll Weevil" - SOTD - (2-7-15)
This is a fine little ditty from The Presidents of the United States of America called "Boll Weevil." They are a three man band with an awesome style merging comedy and rock music. Lots of different elements make their style all it's own, sometimes they get more funky, other times bluegrass. Each band member uses a special simplified version of their instrument proving that its not the equipment used that makes a band good. Sometimes they even use a hybrid instrument called a Guitbass, using both guitar and bass guitar strings on one instrument. "Boll Weevil" comes from the debut self title release The Presidents of the United States from back in 1995.

Glass Animals - "Gooey" - Song of the Day - 2/6/2015

I heard this song "Gooey" by an indie pop rock band, Glass Animals, who originate from Oxford, UK, on the radio last week and instantly had to use my Shazam app to see who was responsible for creating such a beautiful song. Glass Animals, as it turns out, is a brand spanking new band, having released their debut album last June, entitled Zaba. Their sound is truly a unique one, combining psychedelic pop with melodic, indie electronic and what I can only describe as the sampling of jungle and rainforest sounds which create an overall peaceful tribal feeling.
"Gooey," in particular, combines stream-of-conscious lyricism over a wonderfully trippy sound that makes you feel like you are floating around the inside of a lava lamp.
In an interview with the band, they explained that the lyrics don't really mean anything; they just liked how the words created a true aesthetic feeling. Which is a great explanation, because what the hell is a "peanut butter vibe?" Clearly something that is frickin' awesome. Take a listen below to this Glass Animals single, and prepare yourself for a mind-bending ride.

Zeds Dead & Omar LinX - "Coffee Break" - Song of the Day - 2/5/15 [Free Download]

Zeds Dead has come a long way from their dubstep debut. Traveling across the world and releasing music never thought of, the duo sweeps through the genre without hesitation. Their most recent album Somewhere Else did wonders for all last summer and gave festival season a unique touch. The hit track "Coffee Break" recieved the perfect rework with Omar LinX rapping overtop of it. The distinct sound that Omar brings to the table puts a certain touch that not many are able to grasp. BARENHVRD - "Naraka" [Free Download]

Back again with another groundbreaking track, BARENHVRD continues to demolish you with his head banging anthems. "Naraka" meaning "Underworld", presents a haunting setting for the track. Dragging you into the battle zone ahead, the slow rise puts you in a descending trance. I've come to learn that whenever you hear "BARE-NHVRD" you have to prepare yourself for what is to follow. Releasing on OTODAYO Records, this will mark his 3rd game changing track with the OTO Army. Be sure to follow BARENHVRD on the following pages for more info and upcoming releases!

Dethklok - "Thunderhorse" - Song of the Day - (2/3/15)
Dethklok is a virtual super group with a following 100 times bigger than the Beatles. They are so famous that fans are willing to be slaughtered to death at their shows! The band is a cartoon animation from the show Metalocalypse on Adult Swim, the most cutting edge channel on cable TV in my opinion. Despite the band being a facade their heavy metal is very real, and it rips. The music is created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha, and they make fast paced metal straight from the depths of hell. There are now three albums as a result of growing popularity for the show, and they preform live with a special type of stage show including graphics of the characters to accompany the music. The band is comprised of front man Nathan Explosion, lead guitarist Skwisgaar Skwigelf, rhythm guitarist Toki Wartooth, bassist William Murderface, and drummer Pickles. The TV show lets us into the bands life off the stage and we find out just how different they are from their on-stage personalities. It's an absolutely hilarious depiction of how life would be in that situation. Metal is a very niche genre these days, but when comedy is added in the lyrics and in random scenarios on the show you can help but love it. This song is called "Thunderhorse" and this video is the original pilot, if you will, that would result in the show Metalocalypse, now one of the fan favorites on Adult Swim. You can stream the full Dethklok catalog on spotify here.

Feed Me releases "A Giant Warrior Descends On Tokyo" EP It's groundhogs day and just as promised Feed Me comes through with a brand new EP. A Giant Warrior Descends On Tokyo is four very different songs all with amazing quality and production. Sotto Voce is blasting off into the future and this EP shows how some new styles can live in between the traditional formats. It's always fun to hear new music from an innovator like Feed Me. There's a lot of mimicking going on in the music industry, especially with electronic music, but one of the trend setters is Feed Me. You can stream all four songs on soundcloud, or you can buy A Giant Warrior Decends On Tokyo on iTunes by following the link.

Jack U - "Get Free / Cinema VIP" - Song of the Day - 2/2/15

Since Ultra 2014 almost a year ago, most of us have at some point or another heard of the super duo known as Jack U. One half Skrillex and the other Diplo, together they are constantly changing the EDM game with every single day that passes by. This little throwback has two of their old originals, one from each of them. 'Cinema' and 'Get Free'. Separately they are both amazing tracks but together they make for one hell of a 'VIP'. You can catch it live as the two closed out Madison Square Garden on New Years Eve. So here's another Monday, and hopefully the weather isn't too bad out there for ya. Shout out to all the Midwest people struggling in this snow! Enjoy everyone!

Haywyre - "Insight" - Song of the Day - 2/1/15

A relatively new artist hitting the map lately comes from Milwaukee, WI who goes by Haywyre. With his impressive piano skills and jazz background Haywyre has produced some very unique creations in the studio. It seems as though hes got something for everyones ears as he produces everything from glitch-hop, electro-soul, and even classical. The song featured today definitely is on the future-bass side and you can see a live version of the song below in the video provided.

Insanely impressive to say the least. No "press play" button here; nothing but pure talent. Haywyre has just begun his very first headlining North American tour. There are only 9 shows on the schedule for the tour, so you'll want to be sure to catch him if you're near one of the shows. If not, keep your eye on festival line-ups and you'll be sure to see Haywyre on at least a few. Below you'll find his tour schedule along with the Soundcloud link of his newest single which you can download on Beatport.
