Omar LinX - "The Wild" - Song of the Day - [6-25-15]

Today we have the latest installment from a kick ass hip-hop lyricist Omar LinX called "The Wild." This video is done in a very artsy fashion using a style of animation similar to abstract paintings. You may have heard the name Omar LinX from his collaborations with Zeds Dead and many others. He has an in-your-face style of rhyming, almost like he is constantly battle rapping. He is very clever in coming up with similes and comparisons. You can check out more from Omar LinX on his official soundcloud page here.

The Partysquad - Helemaal Naar De Klote (Abstract Brasserie Mix) - Song of the Day - (10/17/14)

A remix that defined an entire summer for me will hopefully do some good for you as well! This track couldn't have been named better, as "Helemaal Naar De Klote" means "Jacked" in Dutch. While already intrigued by the original track, hearing someone rework it was great and unexpected! Out of Amsterdam, Abstract is pushing forward on a path of his own. Creating a style untouched by most, but heard by many.

Purple - "The Club" (Shlohmo Remix)

Beatmaker god Shlohmo has done it again! Only a half an hour ago, he released his remix of fellow Wedidit producer Purple's famous The Club. Shlohmo starts the tune off by slowing down the vocals from the original track and gently adding hypnotic percussion layered over a subtle but dark bass line. When his signature snare drums and claps come in, along with the rest of the eerie vocals, Shlohmo develops a sound that is an effortless fusion of his old work from his debut LP Bad Vibes, his latest EP Laid Out, and a new style not evident in any of his works. Keeping the remix minimal and slow, Shlohmo has kept his classic dark vibe but with new, unseen placement of percussion he has added a layer of hypnotism to this tune.

Death Grips - "Whatever I Want (Fuck Who's Watching)" - Song of the Day [11/29/2013] [FREE DOWNLOAD]

Today's Song of the Day comes from experimental hip-hop group Death Grips. With roots emanating in acid house, dubstep, and grime, they have completely changed the meaning of hip-hop in today's sense. Through a barely organized chaos, Death Grips uses Whatever I Want and the rest of songs on their newly released album Government Plates to convey a feeling of strong discomfort. With MC Ride's countless double and triple entendres, Zach Hill's offbeat, erratic, and very heavy percussion, and Flatlander's trippy synth progressions, Government Plates is an album crafted to induce scattered reactions amongst listeners. The last song on the album Whatever I want (Fuck Who's Watching) is a seven minute work of chaotic art. With skull crushing percussion and distorted acid synths, Death Grips starts the song off with a very abstract but dark tone. MC Ride's menacing lyrics are similar to a calling for disaster. All in all, Whatever I want is a tune in which every single bit of noise seems to be a calling for a severe catastrophe.
Beware, this is not for the faint of heart.
