The Presidents of the United States of America - "Boll Weevil" - SOTD - (2-7-15)

http://eil.com/images/main/Presidents-Of-The-USA-The-Presidents-Of-366879.jpg
This is a fine little ditty from The Presidents of the United States of America called "Boll Weevil." They are a three man band with an awesome style merging comedy and rock music. Lots of different elements make their style all it's own, sometimes they get more funky, other times bluegrass. Each band member uses a special simplified version of their instrument proving that its not the equipment used that makes a band good. Sometimes they even use a hybrid instrument called a Guitbass, using both guitar and bass guitar strings on one instrument. "Boll Weevil" comes from the debut self title release The Presidents of the United States from back in 1995.

Rage Against The Machine - "Bombtrack" LIVE - Song of the Day [12-30-14]

This is the opening song "Bombtrack" to the debut and self titled album Rage Against The Machine performed live. It's one of the best albums ever created on a number of levels. Zack de la Rocha is a brilliant political figure as well as being a masterful lead singer for the group. His words are powerful and intelligent, a lot can be learned listening closely to Rage Against The Machine lyrics. Their music is just perfect, and the band is so skilled they can nearly identically recreate the same sound as on the studio recordings when playing live. I was able to see them live in the late nineties and they sounded impeccable. Each band member is on an elite level and together they made a strong statement. The band was made up of Tim Commerford on bass guitar, Tom Morello on guitar, and drummer Brad Wilk. "Bombtrack" sets the tone for an incredible session of meticulous precision in rock music. You can stream the full catalog of Rage Against The Machine music on spotify.

7 Minutes Dead - "Sidewinder" - Song of the Day - (12/16/14)

This is a bomb track right off the bat from 7 Minutes Dead. The glitch yawns and killer beat please my ears, and especially when so brilliantly patterned. "Sidewinder" will take you on a journey into an electronic funk tunnel of sonic delight, bending and adapting into different dimensions. It comes from the self titled debut EP 7 Minutes Dead released on Monstercat in 2013. He has a bunch of awesome releases already, and a superb taste for crisp electronic sounds. Stay on the up and up with 7 Minutes Dead through his official website here.

Garbage - "Vow" - Song fo the Day - [12-4-14]

Garbage has always been a great rock band that I get down to. They are in fact a super band destined to explode with an all-star lineup of players and producers. The band consists of Shirley Manson (vocals, keyboards, guitar) and Duke Erikson (bass, guitar, keyboards, percussion), Steve Marker (guitar, keyboards), and Butch Vig (drums, percussion). The whole band is involved in most facets of production for their albums. Some might recognize "Vow" from the old school MTV News theme. The self titled debut album Garbage sold over 4 million units, going double platinum in the United States as well as Australia and the United Kingdom. Go to the Official Garbage Website for more news on the band.
