Peter Bjorn and John - "Young Folks" - Song of the Day - [4/29/15]

Peter Bjorn and John have one of the catchiest indie rock songs in recent memory with this track "Young Folks." The band is comprised of Peter Morén, Björn Yttling, and John Eriksson, so you see how the group's name came about. It's hard to believe, but it's already been about 8 years since their album Writers Block was released. This is the official music video for "Young Folks" it's a clever animation that turns the lyrics into an ongoing dialogue between two people as they become friends and more. Peter Bjorn and John have a great sound for festivals with large crowds to sing and whistle along to. The melody that is whistled on "Young Folks" is almost impossible to not join in with. This song is so uplifting with a subliminal hippie happiness built in. Get more up to date by browsing the official Peter Bjorn and John website. Be cool.

I don't know why but this song always gets stuck in my head when I'm in a traffic jam. It's "Steppin Out" by Joe Jackson. The quick paced bass line is what catches my attention, it's a throwback tempo and pattern in the song. Similar to an old school film score, during a driving scene, where the tempo adds to the visual element of the story. Joe Jackson is a composer and he plays multiple instruments including saxophone and piano. "Steppin' Out" is from back in 1982, and it properly represents the new wave phase in the music scene which was huge in the 80's. This is also the official video for Joe Jackson's "Steppin Out" and it's still classy thirty years later.

The Aquabats! - "Super Rad" - Song of the Day - [8/19/14]

The Aquabats are awesome, they make super hero ska music. I was completely obsessed with their album The Fury of the Aquabats! back in the day, and why not Ska music is so catchy. Everyone was skanking to this song "Super Rad" and wearing checker board slip on shoes. It was definitely a simpler time, but we can still listen to these tunes and remember those good times.

Phoenix - "1901" - Song of the Day (7-26-14)

Back in 2009 Phoenix had one of the catchiest songs of the year with "1901" from their album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. This song is super poppy and happy, as is most of the rest of the album. Go check out more Phoenix music on their official Youtube here and have a good day.

Mord Fustang "We Are Now Connected" SOTD [7/7/14]

I love Mord Fustang, his style is super catchy and it always makes me happy to jam out with. For the most part Mord Fustang produces his own brand of house and electro-house music. He is hugely into video games and you can tell it influences his musical ideas. On soundcloud you can find portions of Mord Fustang's music, but if you want the full tracks check him out on spotify here.
