Paul McCartney and Wings - "Arrow Through Me" - SOTD - [6/30/15]

Here's an amazing single from the album Back To The Egg by Paul McCartney and Wings called "Arrow Through Me." Super funky and beautiful, with just the right touch of class. Sir Paul McCartney is a true living legend, and he is literally musical royalty since being knighted back in 1997 by the Order of the British Empire. There is no one on the planet who has more credentials than Sir Paul McCartney. Some would call him the most successful performer and composer of all time and that is hard to argue. Enjoy the smooth funk of "Arrow Through Me" and have a wonderful Tuesday.

Aphex Twin - "Little Funny Man" - Song of the Day - [6-24-15]

Growing up I couldn't ever get enough of the odd music Aphex Twin put into the world. Richard D. James was way ahead of his time and he probably always will be. "Little Funny Man" was definitely one of my favorites from the album Come To Daddy. There are so many things going on in all of his productions but I would describe this song as twisted, funky, and brilliant. So, "Come on little funny man" lets indulge in Aphex Twin and remember our roots.

A funky bass line is such a powerful thing, it can literally force people to get up and dance. This is the "Osmium" by a very talented American producer George Shaw, he also goes by stage name AdhesiveWombat. He creates 8-bit symphonies and he is a genius with the electro-house genre too. You can listen to a ton of full quality music streaming on the AdhesiveWombat Youtube Channel. Or if that's not enough there is even more on the AdhesiveWombat Soundcloud page, and many of the songs are available to download for free. Go get some new funky/chippy music and don't fight the urge to dance, it's natural.

Joe Jackson - "Steppin Out" - Song of the Day - [10-1-14]

I don't know why but this song always gets stuck in my head when I'm in a traffic jam. It's "Steppin Out" by Joe Jackson. The quick paced bass line is what catches my attention, it's a throwback tempo and pattern in the song. Similar to an old school film score, during a driving scene, where the tempo adds to the visual element of the story. Joe Jackson is a composer and he plays multiple instruments including saxophone and piano. "Steppin' Out" is from back in 1982, and it properly represents the new wave phase in the music scene which was huge in the 80's. This is also the official video for Joe Jackson's "Steppin Out" and it's still classy thirty years later.

Hot Chip - "One Life Stand" - Song of the Day (9-19-14)

http://cdn.stereogum.com/files/2009/01/hot_chip-cover-joy_division.jpgThis is a really cool track by Hot Chip called "One Life Stand," there's really nothing else I know even similar to this song. I first heard Hot Chip about the same time that MGMT blew up, so I tend to lump the two bands together. They are both very out in left field, but every now and then a pop masterpiece emerges. Hot Chip is definitely a hipster type of band, but I mean that in a good way. This song has some really interesting lyrics to go with the amazing music. You can listen to a bunch more Hot Chip music via Spotify here.

Beat Fatigue - "Six Strings Attached" EP

Beat Fatigue, a 25 year old producer, DJ, and guitarist from Amsterdam, was just 10 years old when he picked up a guitar. 15 years later, we've got this awesome fucking ep - Six Strings Attached. Rocking some sexy blues guitar and funky basslines, this is electronic music like you've never heard it before. Featuring 3 original tracks and a remix by SugarBeats, this EP is due to get Beat Fatigue the recognition he deserves. He might just be the best thing since sliced bread.
