Porter Robinson - 'Say My Name' - Song Of The Day - 1/26/2015

Today's Song Of The Day comes to us from none other then the ever so talented Porter Robinson. I don't know about you but this was the first track I had ever heard from the young producer and it immediately turned me into a fan. While he may not be producing this type of music anymore, hearing this now shows the amazing transformation Porter has taken into his latest album Worlds. Not to mention that this track is already four years old. It shows the pure talent of his production skills and quality at such a young age. 'Say My Name' is a staple Electro House track and in my opinion still one of the best. Sometimes it's good to go back and re-discover our favorite artists. Enjoy!

A funky bass line is such a powerful thing, it can literally force people to get up and dance. This is the "Osmium" by a very talented American producer George Shaw, he also goes by stage name AdhesiveWombat. He creates 8-bit symphonies and he is a genius with the electro-house genre too. You can listen to a ton of full quality music streaming on the AdhesiveWombat Youtube Channel. Or if that's not enough there is even more on the AdhesiveWombat Soundcloud page, and many of the songs are available to download for free. Go get some new funky/chippy music and don't fight the urge to dance, it's natural.

Mord Fustang - "Drivel" - Song of the Day (10/10/14)

http://img.sxsw.com/2013/bands/1388.jpgHere's the newest single from Mord Fustang called "Drivel." As you might expect its starts with a hypnotizing build, leading into a banging electro-house beat. Mord Fustang makes awesome melodies that take you on a journey. He provides perfect beats to accompany playing any old school Nintendo, be it Original NES, Super Nintendo, or Nintendo 64. At least that's what I like to listen to Mord Fustang with, although I often have to pause the game to get up and dance it out.

Al Bizarre - "Ice Jump" - Song of the Day - [8/28/14]

This is a bad ass beat from Al Bizarre, one of the illest in the Electro-House sub-genre of EDM. His music is epic but not trancey, he goes hard and gets the dance floor hopping. This song "Ice Jump" was released as a single on the label Big Fish Canada. Al Bizarre also has music released on Spinnin Records too, he spreads the love to multiple labels. His song "Fire Breazze" is amazing too, you can peep it here.

PrototypeRaptor - "Vaprus"

Here's a brand new funkadelic jam from PrototypeRaptor the 24 year old producer from Norman, Oklahoma. He has dabbled with music production since the age of 13, so he is no noob to the game. Typically PrototypeRaptor creates electro-house, nu-funk, nu-disco, dubstep, and whatever else he feels like rocking out. This track "Vaprus" is definitely in the nu-disco style with a bunch of clever bass slaps and excellent mastering. PrototypeRaptor has a loaded soundcloud page with nearly 100 songs, so go check it out.

Wolfgang Gartner - "Illmerica" - Song of the Day (7/13/14)

This is such an amazing music video and a great song too it's "Illmerica" from Wolfgang Gartner. The video is goes deep into history using a political cartoon type of visual to quickly summarize the manifest destiny of the world powers throughout the last few hundred years. "Illmerica" comes from Wolfgang Gartner's first studio album Weekend In America a completely brilliant listen all the way through. Wolfgang Gartner is at most of the big electronic music festivals every year, and I never miss him. He guides the crowd with his hands like a band conductor along with being a champion mix master for his live sets. You can stay on the up and up with Wolfgang Gartner's tour dates by liking him and following along with his official facebook page here.

Mord Fustang "We Are Now Connected" SOTD [7/7/14]

I love Mord Fustang, his style is super catchy and it always makes me happy to jam out with. For the most part Mord Fustang produces his own brand of house and electro-house music. He is hugely into video games and you can tell it influences his musical ideas. On soundcloud you can find portions of Mord Fustang's music, but if you want the full tracks check him out on spotify here.

Televisor - "Dream Soda" - Song of the Day - [6-29-14]

This is a smooth track from the duo Televisor called "Dream Soda" a complete throwback to the disco era. Since disco is supposedly dead we can call this track Nu-Disco music. Regardless to how you categorize the song it's a heart thumping jam. The members of Televisor, Adam Griffin and Robert Davies, are total funk masters. Their music is impossible to not respond to, even if just a little toe tap. Peep out more great music from Televisor on their official soundcloud page.

Benjamin Briggs - "Trash FM" (Song of the Day) [2-18-14]

Benjamin Briggs is one of my favorite people as well as an amazing music producer. He creates original songs and incredible video game remixes. Ben also has a popular channel on Twitch.tv where he plays video games and interacts with viewers. He is hilarious and very witty, which makes his show rather entertaining. For special episodes Ben produces music live and gives a sort of tutorial of how he creates music. "Trash FM" is my favorite track by Benjamin Briggs, it is a prime example of his brilliant chiptune music. For more Benjamin Briggs downloads you can go to his official website here BenBriggs.net. And make sure to check out his live stream on Twitch.tv here.

The Glitch Mob - Love Death Immortality [Album Review]

The Glitch Mob are no strangers when it comes to experimentation in the electronic scene. With the release of their debut LP Drink the Sea in 2010, they established themselves as a group which creates music containing a combination of both organic and synthetic instrumentation while also expressing a tone that is very emotional and uplifting. After this release, the glitch electronica scene was expanded greatly and many standing and upcoming artists attempted to use The Glitch Mob sound as inspiration for their new music. Soon afterwords, The Glitch Mob gained massive respect for their style, playing festivals and many tours whenever they were not producing.
Fast forward a few years and we witness the release their second LP Love Death Immortality. The Glitch Mob commented that during the production of this album, they were constantly communicating with fans via social networks, and they believe that this album represents the emotional intimacy that they have built over time with their followers. Love Death Immortality is an album that is very different from Drink the Sea in terms of production and style; however, it still maintains the emotional tone prevalent in all their previous works. This album is definitely more fast-paced and has a very dominant dance vibe to it. This style is represented most in songs Skullclub and Carry The Sun, which clearly have electro-house overtones and general EDM build-ups and drops. These tunes are not very consistent with The Glitch Mob sound and seem to be little too generic within the giant-but-not-diverse progressive house scene. However, songs like Can't Kill Us and Skytoucher, the most versatile and original tracks, combine styles from many different genres of electronic music while also showing us production skill that we have never heard before.
Unlike in Drink the Sea, The Glitch Mob decided to collaborate with many artists on Love Death Immortality. Along with the amplification of emotion, these collaborations are flawless and smooth, showing us that The Glitch Mob can be very diverse in sound and production. By far the most original and touching collaboration takes place on the final track of the album, Beauty Of The Unhidden Heart. Sister Crayon's vocals seem to float effortlessly over The Glitch Mob's downtempo dubstep beat while the fuzzy synths roam in the foreground, expressing to us a unique uplifting emotion that we have never felt before in electronic music thus far.

Love Death Immortality is a journey into the energetic world of emotional dance music, and the last track is the tether that brings us smoothly back to reality. This album will without a doubt be an inspiration for many artists both in and out of the glitch scene.

The Noisy Freaks - "Selection"

The Noisy Freaks are back with another amazing complextro song, the first single from the upcoming album Straight Life. "Selection" starts off with a simple piano line that builds for about 2 minutes and then, boosh! The drop is almost impossible to not bop your head to. The Noisy Freaks blend together a number of interesting melodies for a very deep final mix. The Straight Life album set to release on February 17th, and it's full of intense EDM tracks of many different sub genres. Definitely stay current on The Noisy Freaks for a bunch of energetic new music.

de Vio feat. Helen - "Nuts" (Radio Edit) [FREE DOWNLOAD]

EDM producer de Vio released his latest tune a few days ago. Mainly centered within the electro-house genre, Nuts is a club banger. Starting off with Helen's lush vocals and a light synth melody, de Vio wastes no time building up the song into a bass heavy four to the floor drop. With very skilled production and spectacular fusion of mid-frequency percussion, low-bass synths and crisp guitar riffs, de Vio has managed to create an incredible tune.

Jim Grim - "Staircase to Hell LP"

Jim Grim is probably a new name to most people, but with songs like his it's only a matter of time before he blows up. Jim Grim is from Norway a hot spot for excellent new EDM, with artists like Savant and Twistex also emerging from there. A similar style comes from all three as well, a sort of chiptune/dubstep. Jim Grim released "Staircase To Hell" on his own, unable to get backing from SectionZ Records, the label Savant and Twistex are signed with. Nevertheless the album is amazing with 14 unique tracks of multiple different EDM genres including glitch-hop, electro-house and dubstep. Check out Jim Grim's soundcloud page for more electrifying music, many of the his songs are available for free download.
