Trobiz - "On Point" - Song of the Day [4/21/15]

Tremayne Howe aka Trobiz represents the intelligent side of hip-hop lyricists quite well. This is "On Point" a smooth beat underneath some of the illest flows spliced in with descriptive similes. The mic is passed around like a Lyricist Lounge song with a bunch of different voices all coming together to throw down. This is the type of music that would accompany many a back-road drive and smoke session in my youth. There are very few songs that can make me day dream about the good old days in my life like this. I always have good memories pop up when getting down to Trobiz.

Roni Size & Reprazent - "Brown Paper Bag" - Song of the Day [3/24/15]

When you listen to drum and bass music you have to understand the rich history. Most true junglists don't even care about anything else but drum and bass, everything else is irrelevant. This is one of the best drum and bass crews ever assembled - Roni Size & Reprazent. The lucky ones who get to experience their live performances are dazzled by multiple percussionists and flawless representations of amazingly complicated melodies. The main band members are Roni Size, Reprazent, Dynamite MC, and Onallee. This is the official video for "Brown Paper Bag" one of the biggest hits for the band off the album Newforms from back in 1997. Right now they are still touring the world and hitting the biggest destinations, throwing massive shows for their fans. You can get info on the tour dates, buy merch, peep photos, and more on the official Roni Size website here.

Redman - "Pick It Up" - Song of the Day - (10/8/14)

Reggie Noble aka Redman is truly the most hilarious of all hip hop lyricists. He represents the brick city - Newark, New Jersey - and he tells his side of the hard streets. Redman is a proud marijuana aficionado, he and Method Man have a film called How High which is probably the second best stoner film ever created after Half Baked. "Pick It Up" comes from the third Redman album Muddy Waters released back in December of 1996, a record that went gold in just three months! Despite being a goofball Redman is rather intelligent, his lyrical flow is one of the most impersonated in the game. His bars are timeless, almost a 20 year old album still has you "Humpin and a bumpin in yo jeeps." Back in the day Redman was all about Def Jam Records, and Def Squad, now his crew is Gilla House. You can check out the Official Redman Website for more music, movies, and awesome merchandise.
