Dog Blood - "Next Order" - Song of the Day - [4/28/15]

Dog Blood is still a bit under the radar, having done very few performances live and with only a handful of releases. That's not to say the two producers involved haven't been very busy. If you don't know yet Dog Blood is a duo of Alex Ridha (Boys Noize) & Sonny Moore (Skrillex). Both are huge names in electronic music and also both run record labels - OWSLA and Boys Noize Records. There are a couple notable shows coming up this summer for Dog Blood. One is Hard Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado. The line-up is huge this year for Hard Red Rocks also including - The Glitch Mob, Porter Robinson, DESTRUCTO, Branchez, and Option 4. Another big show is Movement, formerly called Detroit Electronic Music Festival, it's a huge rave in downtown Detroit at Hart Plaza. The Dog Blood style is described as "Middle Finger Music" because it says FU to the main stream. Definitely go check them out if you get a chance this summer, they always throw down fresh beats.

Birdy Nam Nam - "Defiant Order" - Song of the Day - [4/26/15]

This video is nuts, some people are fearless when it comes to controlling a manipulating powerful machines. You might have heard of Birdy Nam Nam from the huge hit they had as a result of a Skrillex remix for the song "Goin In." They are a French band made up of DJ Need, DJ Pone, Crazy B, Little Mike and together they create an awesome funky electro music with some glitch-hop feels too. The group's gets their name from a line by Peter Sellers in the 1968 film The Party. This is the official music video for "Defiant Order" put out through the OWSLA youtube channel. If you are a producer go to the exclusive website for Birdy Nam Nam and there you can enter a remix contest to put your spin on "Defiant Order." 12th Planet, Skrillex & Kill The Noise - "Burst" ft. GMCFOSHO - SOTD - [2/24/15]

http://image.pollstar.com/WeblogFiles/pollstar/1301181055016142966_807367_v1.jpgTo me this still remains one of the most hype tracks in recent electronic history. Having 12th Planet team up with Skrillex and Kill The Noise makes for a intense collaboration. The three have each become headliners, and now all three are founders of different record labels. Skrillex may be the most notable having created an empire out of his brand OWSLA, with a ton of talent all over the electronic spectrum. 12th Planet has his label SMOG Records kickin out the funky fresh beats too. Kill The Noise now too is a record label executive with Slow Roast Records along with partner DJ Craze. The final piece of the puzzle is GMCFOSHO who provides that "Burst" and the swag, completing the epic production for this hugely popular track.

Nick Thayer - "Totalitaria" - Song of the Day - [11-30-14]

This is a hard dubstep/electro track from Nick Thayer. He's one of the few highly talented artists representing OWSLA the label founded by Sonny Moore a.k.a. Skrillex. Nick Thayer makes awesome music with a ton of energy packed into the beats. "Totalitaria" is one of my favorite songs from Nick Thayer, it's one of those songs I blare with the windows down so everybody knows I'm listening to it. You can listen to a lot more from Nick Thayer here at his official soundclound page.

501 - "And It Begins" - Song of the Day - [9/6/14]

501 rips it up on this song "And It Begins". If you haven't heard of 501 before you are in for a treat, he is a very unique producer and he is affiliated with two of the best record labels in electronic music. I first heard 501 from Skrillex through his Mothership show on satellite radio, he dropped the 501 remix of Zedd's "Shave It" and I had to hear more. 501 gained a large following from his EP called Headrush / Falling Skies a huge release on Never Say Die Records back in March of 2012. This song "And It Begins" comes from the Beat The System EP also put out by Never Say Die Records in October of 2013. For more awesome 501 music get on his official soundcloud page here.

Kill Paris - "The Walk"

Here's a brand new catchy beat from the master of nu-funk music, Kill Paris. "The Walk" has a perfect bassline and synth combo for an excellent nu-funk flavor. Kill Paris always comes up with smooth melodies and this is another example of why he is one of the best. "The Walk" will be part of a new EP called Foreplay set to release through OWSLA on April 29th.

The Widdler - "Spacetime" EP

The Widdler, a bass fiending producer out of Austin, Texas, is making his presence known with his most recent release. The Spacetime EP, out on OWSLA, "hosts an impressively diverse range of sound from the innovative producer, with extraterrestrial Drum N Bass found in the opening tune “Satúk” leading into the menacing snarls of Drumstep in “Odyssey” before finally wrapping up with a heady, galactic downtempo vibe in “Breathe.” Usually with eclectic EPs like Spacetime, it’s easy to pick out the artist’s strong suit genre-wise, but The Widdler really displays his knowledge of Bass music in all forms with this one."

TC - "Get Down Low EP"

OWSLA as usual is on top of the game with an amazing new release. This time it's a master of the underground drum and bass scene TC. Representing Bristol, Britain; TC has made a name for himself in many facets. He has a huge library of music with remixes of massive artists, and big names have remixed his music too. TC is also an excellent singer, he sings on some of his own music and he provided vocals for Pendulum’s debut album ‘Hold Your Colour’. In 2011 TC started his own label 'Don't Play' where he released a few singles changing genres a bit to dubstep and drumstep. For the new "Get Down Low EP" the junglist roots show through and a new genre is showcased, trap and bass. A faster version of trap that can be blended into drum and bass. Similar with how drumstep works with transitioning from dubstep to drum and bass. Definitely check out TC's new "Get Down Low EP", it was just released today on OWSLA the giant EDM label founded by Skrillex.

Icarus - "Steal The Sun EP" - Out Today on OWSLA!

Icarus just released his first EP on Sonny Moore's - aka Skrillex - label, OWSLA about 30 minutes ago. The unknown British producer has only 165 followers on Soundcloud, 139 likes on Facebook, and 63 followers on Twitter at the time of this publication - so be the first of your friends to follow him on social media to stay up to date with all his most current happenings. The whole album is magnificently produced and is sure to get producer noticed. Flowing between various genres of house, Icarus captivates the audience with beautifully crafted transitions and intelligently placed and utilized vocalizations throughout. When asked about the EP, Icarus said: "We wanted to make sure that our first release demonstrated diversity, while at the same time sounding whole. We also wanted our tracks to be capable of keeping a listener hooked, be it in a club on the tube. When writing the EP, our inspiration came from many different placed and we worked hard on refining each track to flow smoothly from start to finish. Striking a balance between coherence and the unexpected is what excites us when writing music, and we fell that we've achieved that with this release." The album is available: HERE
