Your New Summer Anthem From CVL3X Is Here!

The long awaited return from the silly robot we all love has finally reached us and it was worth the wait.. This hit new track will you have dancing into these summer months with it's uplifting club feel. Recently making the move from Detroit to Orlando, CVL3X has a new found inspiration and is ready to tear off your face!

We were able to get a few words from the man himself in a short online interview recently, see what he had to see -
1. What inspired PLUR Booty?

"PLUR Booty was actually one of the rare occasions that a random title I came up with just to save a session was the inspiration behind the actual record. With a title like that I wanted to go for a happy vibe that required a lot of movement on the dance floor and I wanted to stray away from my usual sound. Believe it or not, PLUR Booty started off as a happy Drum N Bass record that was in the works for quite some time. After sitting on the record for a long time and coming back to it later with new ideas, it quickly changed formed to more of a club track while keeping the vibe from the original idea."

2. We see you have a slot on the Never Say Die tour stop in Orlando, Anything special planned?

"YES!! I’m extremely happy to make my Florida debut in a couple weeks on such an amazing night! I’ve been day dreaming off & on of exactly what I’m gonna do for my set and since it’s my first time playing here, I’m just gonna continue to bring high energy like I do with all my sets so that Central Florida gets a proper introduction of who I am exactly. I really have to thank the great people over at Alliance Events for giving me the opportunity to showcase my talent and I’m pretty sure there will be plenty more after the NSD show."

3. What's next from CVL3X?

"My plan for the Summer is to stay consistent with single releases that will lead up to my EP "Robot’s Are Stupid" that I’ve slowly been working on for some time now. I don’t have an exact time frame when it will be complete because I’m really aiming for perfection with it. My goal is to make sure every track that I put on this project has it’s on identity instead of just making 5 or 6 tracks and throwing something together. I’m at a point where I’ve figured out the sound I’ve been looking for so I’m very confident that this EP will get a lot of attention."

Dawning Music's Hit Track "U" Is Available For FREE!

Dawning Music's song "U" brings a balance between trap and bright future bass. While starting quiet and calm, the track endlessly increases in intensity while holding an overall ethereal mood. It will immerse you into various emotional peaks through its euphoric waves and ambience. Between the rich warm pad and bell strings, quickly this bliss is juxtaposed with hard hitting trap-style drums. These elements battle for control of the mix and seem as if the ambient pads have taken over then the entire song is exploded into an unexpected intensity. The contrasting sections provide for an unparalleled experience to the standard of everyday life, making “U” crave to indulge in another listen.

Eagles of Death Metal merchandise manager among the victims in bloody massacre at Paris music venue

The music industry, as well as the entire world, suffered a horrific blow Friday when members of the terrorist group ISIS stormed into several areas of Paris' armed with assault rifles and suicide bombs as part of a barbaric planned attack against civilians.

Here is what we know.

Several members of ISIS stormed the Bataclan, a music venue in Paris, during an Eagles Of Death Metal concert Friday night. The terrorists began firing upon the concert attendees and taking hostages. What began as a normal night for the average concert-goer quickly turned into a ruthless massacre of horrific proportions.

According to The Guardian, the death toll from the massacre left more than 100 dead at the concert hall with many more injured. Around 40 people were killed in related attacks around the city.

The report also confirms there were eight attackers killed, seven of them being suicide bombings.

Nick Alexander, the Eagles of Death Metal merchandise manager, was among the many victims to lose their life, as reported by RollingStone. Alexander worked with several major American acts including Panic at the Disco, Sum 41, The Black Keys and Alice in Chains.

He was 36 years old.

Friday's attacks prove that even in a concert setting, where most of us go to find happiness and escape the horrors of the world, are vulnerable. But alas, we cannot bow to the forces of evil that are at work here. The music industry might be a little shaken right now but as the old saying goes, the show must go on.

Phish Pre-Party @ Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom w/ Everyone Orchestra (Review) [9-3-15]

Photos and Review by: Kyle Sutton

Over the past several years, Phish has made a tradition out of visiting Dicks Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO right outside of Denver for three nights of music and jams. Different music venues around Denver hosted a slew of pre and post parties to please all of the incoming Phish "phans" – most of whom came to the mile high city from all corners of the country.

Cervantes hosted this year's official pre-party on Sept. 3 with The Everyone Orchestra, an improv heavy all-star lineup of well-known/respected musicians. The always changing lineup concept is the brainchild of conductor/creator Matt Butler.

This show's lineup, in addition to Butler, consisted of Kris Myers (Umphrey's McGee), Jason Hann (String Cheese Incident), Paul Hoffman (Greensky Bluegrass), Aron Manger (Disco Biscuits), Vernon Reid (Living Colour), Robert Mercurio (Galactic), Eddie Roberts (The New Mastersounds), Durga McBroom (Pink Floyd), Jennifer Hartswick (Trey Anastasio Band), Natalie Cressman (Trey Anastasio Band).

EO operates off the concept of using improvisation as a vehicle to explore instrumentation between musicians from different styles. Butler spent some of the night leading the jams himself, using key words to signal a particular style. The rest of the night, Butler gave the reigns to the musicians making for a completely organic musical experience.

STS9 @ House of Blues Chicago - 3/5-7/2015 (Review)

Review & Photography By: Troy Manley

Sound Tribe Sector Nine, aka Sector Nine, aka Sound Tribe, aka STS9, aka one of the best touring bands at the moment. In January 2014 it was announced that David Murphy, a founding member of the band that had been with them for 15 years of face-melting, would be leaving the band due to personal and musical differences. It was unknown what was to come of the all mighty rocky gods of the Sound Tribe after this. Speculation was flying all over the place, until McDowell Mountain Music Festival. Once they hit the stage David Murphy's replacement was confirmed.

Who was it that was set to take hold of the reigns and lead a new era of funky get downs? None other than Alana Rocklin. This rock goddess came into the tribe and elevated them to a new level of cohesion and musical prowess. Her presence has been known since joining STS9. In Chicago it was no different.

While every night at this intimate venue in Chicago was filled with delicious sound bytes, there are always some all-stars in the group that stand out more than others. Some of my favorites from Thursday night were "Kabuki," "Breathe In," "The Rabble," and their stellar encore, "Satori" - which was last played on 2013.12.30 in Atlanta, GA, an awesome show in its own right. Friday night they treated the crowd with a "Kamuy," "Circus," and "Glogli" during the first set. Following up a killer first set, the tribe destroyed a version of "Ramone & Emiglio" that lasted for almost thirteen minutes. Not to mention the great "Abcees" to close out the 2nd set only to be followed by a "We'll Meet in Our Dreams" encore. Yea, Friday was pretty fun.

Saturday night started off pretty good with a "Shock Doctrine," "Monkey Music," "Golden Gate" combo right off the bat. Throw "Blu Mood" and "When the Dust Settles" in there and you've got yourself a hell of a setlist going. With so much for the 2nd set to live up they had to pull out the big guns to keep things going. The second set of Friday night opened up with a killer improv session followed by "Frequencies Peace 2 > 3." Somewhat controversially they whipped out "Awesome feat Cool Kids (STS9 Remix)." I liked this though because it's almost always followed by "The Unquestionable Supremacy of Nature," which is a favorite of mine. To top it off they played a ten minute version of "Water Song" right after.

All in all it was a great weekend spent with great friends listening to great music surrounded by a ton of great people in a great venue in one of the greatest cities in the world. STS9 already has a good amount of festivals lined up for the summer, so chances are they're coming somewhere near you. Check out their tour dates: HERE.

All 3 shows are available for download on 1320 Records' website, just click the name of the day you want to check out: Thursday, Friday, & Saturday.
