The Suicide Machines - "No Face" - Song of the Day - [1-27-15]

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41PC381EVPL.jpg This is one of the most catchy punk/ska bands ever and a favorite song of mine growing up. The Suicide Machines were a sneaky underground punk rock band, also involving a few horns for a ska feel on some of their tracks. The debut album Destruction By Definition provided the perfect musical soundtrack for skateboarders and snowboarders like myself during the 90's. The band formed in Detroit, Michigan back in 1991 and they would remain for the most part underground with a unique sound. They were a regular at the Vans Warped Tour early on along with bands like NOFX, No Use For A Name, and Bad Religion. Today there is no such thing as a true underground punk-rock band anymore, it has all gone pop, and that is sad. I will never forget how awesome The Suicide Machines were, their music was so fresh and alive, it still holds up strong today. You can stream the full Suicide Machines library on spotify here.

Porter Robinson - 'Say My Name' - Song Of The Day - 1/26/2015

Today's Song Of The Day comes to us from none other then the ever so talented Porter Robinson. I don't know about you but this was the first track I had ever heard from the young producer and it immediately turned me into a fan. While he may not be producing this type of music anymore, hearing this now shows the amazing transformation Porter has taken into his latest album Worlds. Not to mention that this track is already four years old. It shows the pure talent of his production skills and quality at such a young age. 'Say My Name' is a staple Electro House track and in my opinion still one of the best. Sometimes it's good to go back and re-discover our favorite artists. Enjoy!

Eric Clapton - "Cocaine" - Song of the Day - 1/24/15

Originally by JJ Cale, Cocaine was written and recorded in 1976, but didn't really gain popularity until the following year when Eric Clapton released a cover version on his album, Slowhand. A classic as we know it, Clapton did this one justice. Hope y'all are having a good weekend.

A.G. Cook - "Beautiful" - Rustie Edit - Song of the Day - 1/23/2015 [FREE DOWNLOAD]

My man Rustie outdoes himself again with this rework of A.G. Cook's electro beat "Beautiful." Cook's original track is a much more pop and techno-influenced sound, but Rustie never fails to swoop in and create a sound that, in my opinion, is much deeper and more (as the title states) beautiful. He speeds and pitch shifts the vocals and builds up toward a brilliant drop at 1:07, after which he slows down the tempo, creating a trap-like, cloud rap feel that is just too delicious - there is no way you won't find yourself bouncing to this song.
Rustie released his latest album "Green Language" this past August, and has received wonderful feedback on it as well as other projects he has delved into, especially his awesome collaborations with Danny Brown and AlunaGeorge. Rustie no doubt runs with the big boys, belonging to the UK-based record label Lucky Me, alongside the likes of Hudson Mohawke, Baauer, Cashmere Cat, and S-Type.
He's currently on tour traveling around the UK and near his home parts of Scotland. You can take a listen and download his track for free below. Enjoy!

Gnarls Barkley - "Crazy" - Song of the Day - 1/22/15

The music duo known as Gnarls Barkley (CeeLo Green and Danger Mouse) left their imprint in the music industry and continue to today. Although the pair is no longer together, the classical Rnb continues to travel though radio stations worldwide. Being the only single released off of the debut album St. Elsewhere, "Crazy" topped the charts in multiple countries and reached #2 on Billboards hot 100. The talented duo went on to win a Grammy in 2007 for urban performance. The album is still a great jam and will bring you back! Get your copy on iTunes if you haven't already.

Circa Survive - "Holding Someone's Hair Back" - Song of the Day - 1/21/15

Today's song of the day takes us back to our high school days with Circa Survive's "Holding Someone's Hair Back" off their 2005 album, Juturna. interesting enough, Juturna, is the Roman goddess of fountains, wells, and springs. It was taken as a symbol by the band members for a new beginning, and a new beginnig it was.

Virt - "Flowerguy's pool party" - Song of the Day [1/20/15]

Virt is one of the sickest chiptuners ever to manipulate the midi. I pop this music on when I want to jump in a time machine and go back to my Nintendo youth. Tons of Mega Man sounds make this track so enjoyable, plus a perfect mix of melodies. Virt is always good for a full 8-bit symphony, with multiple sections each leading to the next wave of new combinations. This track "Flowerguy's pool party" is just brilliant, you can't help but smile and bob your head to the beat.

Ross Pennock - "A Different Place in Time" - New Album Review [FREE DOWNLOAD]

Artwork By: Rachel Deichert
The Sioux Falls, South Dakota native transplanted in Denver, Colorado, Ross Miller, aka Ross Pennock, just dropped his newest album today, A Different Place in Time. This follow up to his 2014 album, Don't Stand Still, starts off strong with "Falling." Definitely not out of sight, and certainly not out of mind, he sets the stage for killer things to come through the rest of the album. Produced, mixed, and mastered by Dylan West, aka Dylan Jaymes, this album represents a progression of skills and a relentless desire to achieve great things by these two. This skill is ever-present in "Hardly Finished" where production and articulation of a vision come to the forefront. Catchy and powerful with a unique touch of glitchy bass-driven beats, the vocals by Ross are carried along while flawlessly keeping the listener entranced throughout its entirety. "Get Your Own" has an R. Kelly type of vibe to it, without the golden showers. I don't want to ruin the rest of the album for you, so I'm going to let you listen to the remaining songs and draw your own conclusions. Overall, this is great release by a good friend of mine that I only see achieving more and more because of his relentless drive to carve a name for himself in the music world. Cannot wait to see what the future holds for Ross Pennock and Dylan Jaymes. Available for free download through the Mile High Sound Movement bandcamp: HERE.

Meghan Trainor - "All About That Bass" (Charlie Darker Remix) - Song Of The Day - 1/19/2015

Happy Monday to all and thank god for this three day weekend right? Today's song of the day comes to us from one of the most underrated producers in my opinion, Charlie Darker. The Canadian producer has quite a wide range of diversity but this was the first I've heard him dive into future/deep house. And this track is a perfect starter song to get you and all of your friends to ride this new wave of house music coming out. Low vocals and the lingering synth(reminds me of MUST DIE! - 'Hellcat') in the background give this song the perfect vibe when it starts. As the track rises before the drop you can begin to hear the "hollow pipe" sound build which indicates where this track is heading. When the drop hits, the first thing I noticed was how well the drums worked together with that "hollow pipe" sound. The only thing you have to do now is boogie down to the groovy music blasting from your speakers. Enjoy!

JK Soul - "Make Everything Right" - Song of the Day - 1/18/15

A producer coming out of Slovenia is making his way on the EDM scene lately. JK Soul has been producing music since the late 90's and continues to influence his music from hip-hop and electro-soul and mixes them in the perfect amount. Today's song of the day comes from his most recent album that was released a few days ago titled "Where There Is No Sun". This track has a great feel to it some killer horns throughout. Check it out below along with links to his pages.

Caribou - "Found Out" - Song of the Day - [1-17-15]

Caribou is an awesome band with a mellow futuristic style, a total outlier on a musical box and whisker chart. "Found Out" is from their masterpiece album called Swim. The band is a four man group when preforming live with producer Daniel Snaith, and band members Ryan Smith, Brad Weber, and John Schmersal. The music is so advanced from your typical band, they include a plethora of different elements to create their mystical sound. Go check out the Official Caribou Website to keep up with the latest news on the band. And have a chill Saturday.

Oisima - Everything About Her (Ta-ku Remix) - Song of the Day - 1/16/2014

This song doe! Ta-ku flips the switch on the original "Everything About Her" produced by Oisima, with lyrics by Anabel Weston, and creates a whole new beat entirely which plays off the song's initial beauty and proceeds to skyrocket into a seriously huge and original tune. Ta-ku achieves this with not only chopping and screwing the vocals and adding a fluid mixture of bells and drums to enhance the sound throughout, but he also surprises us completely at 1:30 with a brilliant drop that includes insane high-pitched violin samples that drive the song into a reggae inspired feel on top of its beautiful and melodic foundation. It seems as though Australia really knows what's up these days, especially since the Future Classic Label originated there - a label managed by Ta-ku and many other swiftly rising producers such as Flume and Touch Sensitive. Even Oisima, the producer of the original track, conceives his lovely songs whilst residing Down Undah. Regardless, this song is the soundtrack to the pregame, the party, the afterparty, the drunken sex and/or drunken munchies that transpire on these beautiful Friday nights. Enjoy!

Jon Bellion - "Luxury" - Song of the Day - 1/15/15

Today we relax and vibe out in the dreams of "Luxury". This animated video brings us on almost a short story journey through the ideas of Jon Bellion. Touching on a unique base, the mellow track draws attention with its uplifting chords. Singing as well as rapping over the beat, Jon gives it a dynamic difference that makes everything pop that much more. The anticipated trumpet lies perfectly over the ambient synths, digging a smile out of you every time. Check out more from Jon Bellion on his website!

Slipknot - "Vermillion Pt. 2" - Song of the Day - 1/14/15

"Vermillion Pt. 2" is a continuation of Vermillion from their album Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses). One of my favorite albums of theirs. The differences between the two tracks are subtle. "Vermillion" is about the enrapturing, the buildup, the anticipation, and the neurosis, according to Corey Taylor, lead singer of Slipknot. While part 2 is about the aftermath, the pieces that have to be picked up later, and maybe the guilt of having lived through it. Over all, an intensely powerful track and music video.

Hangout Music Festival Gives Us Their 2015 Lineup!

The festival lineups are rolling in! This one comes to us from Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The 3 days event is held on the beach and couldn't have a prettier atmosphere. With this being the first year that Hangout has partnered up with Goldenvoice, I'm sure this year is going to stand out when it comes to production. The massive lineup includes Foo Fighters, Beck, Skrillex, Damian "JR. Gong" Marley, GRiZ and many more! Ticket sales started earlier today and they are sure to go quick. Make sure to follow Hangout Music Festival on their pages for updates and special offers.

Skellism - "Y" [Free Download]

The anticipated track from the duo known as Skellism has finally arrived. The upbeat track presents a festival like feel that gives off a big sound through your speakers. Swaying to its drop, the hardstyle bass takes over. Quickly returning to their roots, they make the switch to a bouncy trap beat that fluently slows the pace of things. Their first track of 2015 is avalible for FREE DOWNLOAD here. Following their last track "X", is it safe to assume "Z" will follow?

Datarock - "Amarillion" - Song of the Day - [1/13/15]

This is a beautiful song by Datarock called "Amarillion" from their second album RED. They began just as a group of four friends with a dream in Bergen, Norway. Since their debut album Datarock Datarock released back in 2005 they have been on a steady incline in popularity, and now they are known all over the world. Datarock creates incredible music that has a retro rock feel, while also utilizing some newer electronic techniques too. The lyrics are sometimes silly and hilarious while other times very intimate descriptions of love and deep emotional thoughts. Go check out the Official Datarock Website for tour dates, music, and awesome merch including the official Datarock red jumpsuit.

3LAU - "Bang" (Tiesto Bootleg) - Song Of The Day (1-12-15)

This song of the day comes almost as two songs! What we have is a bootleg created by Tiesto for 3lau's hit track "We Came To Bang". The only difference is that the vocals aren't from the original. They're instead from a song that some might know by the Bloodhound Gang, "The Bad Touch". Overall the track is has an electro, pounding you in your face feel. It's cool to see big names like Tiesto still doing some fun stuff that people can get a kick out of. The first time I heard this I couldn't believe Tiesto was apart of it. None the less it's a great fun track to get the party started, even on a Monday. Enjoy!

Odesza - "Lost and Found" - Song of the Day - 1/11/14 (FREE DOWNLOAD)

The melodic duo consisting of members Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight that come together to form Odesza have been chosen for our song of the day today. Odesza has been making big moves lately and this track goes to show some of their hard work at putting their spin on a Pretty Lights song. The original is great, but this version brings something new to the song and they did a great job getting it together. Give this song a listen and check out their other stuff if this gets you going.

Huglife - Unthugged Mixtape - Released January 3, 2015

Huglife, formerly known as DJ Slink, has not had an easy month by any means. All I want to do, of course, is hug him. For reasons not fully stated, Huglife's soundcloud was shut down without notice, and he lost over 34K followers! Which producers know is pivotal for popularity growth, booking shows, and connecting and sharing music with fans. However, he still made a point to release his much anticipated "Unthugged" mixtape to his anxiously awaiting fans. Despite having his former soundcloud page shut down, he has now created a new Huglife Soundcloud in order to release this mixtape. Over a week after the initial release date due to the deletion of his account.

"Unthugged," of course, is nothing less than spectacular and well worth waiting for. His introduction, as always, is epic, and the rest follows suit, exhibiting all forms and genres of music with fluid transitions and hard-hitting emotional selections. He continues to perfectly mix the hood side of trap with the sexual and passionate side of cloud rap. And, as always, is the foolproof face of Jersey club music, even though this particular mixtape depicts his more aesthetic, sensitive side. It is quite perfect for an hour of intense love-making, but in all honestly, all I want to do is make love to my speakers.

Huglife has been such an influential artist and never fails to create dazzling sounds. He was the last person to have to deal with this unfortunate setback. However, he still remains positive and grateful for his fans, because his fans sure are grateful for him. To help support Huglife, you can follow his other accounts while he continues to build his new soundcloud:

Here is a "tour guide" to the "Unthugged" mixtape Huglife posted on his new Soundcloud account: (A more detailed track list should be coming soon.)

100s - "Ten Freaky Hoes" - Song Of The Day - 1/9/2015

Who doesn't enjoy the company of ten freaky hoes? 100s is definitely no exception, releasing this ballad about the likes of Michelle, Portia, Donna, and Mia (that bitch tried to steal his conditioner.) His beautiful ice cold perm is only one of the many wonderful things about this California-born rapper who signed with Fools Gold Records in June 2013. Since then, his music has advanced into a much groovier, g-funk based production, this particular single a perfect depiction of such, making you feel like you're bouncing down the streets of Brooklyn in the 80s. This rapper is only going to continue to grow, along with his stick straight luscious locks; his single "Life of a Mack" was featured in the soundtrack of Grand Theft Auto V. He went on tour with Kreayshawn and performed five shows at SXSW in 2013. A free EP titled Ivry is said to be released this upcoming year. Take a listen below and immerse yourself in the life of this self-proclaimed third-world mack.

Orphic & Ill Dosage - "Galactic Cruise Control" [FREE DOWNLOAD]

Artists, Orphic & Ill Dosage, hailing from Detroit, teamed up with Swamp Music to put out their newest heavy hitting track. Crunchy bass, good drums, and all around great production make this one not to skip over. Don't be surprised to hear more killer tunes by either of these up and coming producers in the near future. What's even better about this track? Pixies - "Here Comes Your Man" - Song of the Day - 1/8/15

The classic track "Here Comes Your Man" from Pixies was a giant hit in the early 90's. Being written as well as sung by the face of the band Black Francis, the song holds a personal background. Their second ablum full length album Doolittle was released in April of 1989, but they first put out two singles, "Here Comes Your Man" and "Monkey Gone To Heaven". With great success throughout the years their music lives on. This song was rereleased in 2009 on the "(500) Days Of Summer" soundtrack. Listen and enjoy below!

PYLOT - "After Dark"

This is a red hot funk jam from PYLOT a completely new artist on Monstercat. His story isn't a rehashing of some played out cliche, but in fact a mental scavenger hunt to regain his identity. The artist known as PYLOT is a mystery, and an intriguing narrative is about to unfold through musical productions and journal entries. PYLOT is only how he recognizes himself now after having entirely lost all of his memories as a result of an incident. It is going to be fascinating to follow this unknown man as he attempts to put his puzzle back together. Read journal entries on the Official PYLOT Facebook for more clues about who he might be. And peep the Official PYLOT Soundcloud for more music that may lead to more information about who PYLOT really is.

Weird Al Yankovic - "Amish Paradise" - Song of the Day - 1/7/15

Hope our friends in the northern states are doing well to keep warm through this polar vortex we find ourselves in. Have a great day friends :)

Mr. CAR/\\ACK - "I'm in Love With, Coco"

We've all heard the O.T. Genasis original playing over and over at pregames, the club, and the radio for the past few months. Mr. Carmack recently teamed up with Teeko and J.P.S. to produce their rendition of the popular tune. Can't say this was expected, but out of all the remixes out there, this is certainly one of the most unique versions. Mr. Carmack posted on his Twitter account about the remix saying, "Man... I just made a coco remix because i couldn't get it out of my head. Please enjoy it even more". Give it a listen below.

Kaster - "Rage Quit" - Song of the Day - [1/6/15]

Kaster goes hard with this electro track "Rage Quit" from his album Extended Play. He's had this song in his pocket for a little while now, it was originally posted to soundcloud a couple years ago and it became a part of his debut album. "Rage Quit" and a bunch of other songs also available for free download just by liking the Official Kaster Facebook page. This was the opening song to a his set at The Works in Detroit back in April of 2013, the one time I got to see him live. Kaster is really talented at a number of different electronic sub-genres, and he is one of the elite electronic music producers signed with the label Section Z. Definitely keep an eye on this guy, he is getting better with every new release.

Sum 41 - 'In Too Deep' (Kasum Remix) - Song Of The Day (1/5/15)

Today's song of the day comes with a side order of Nostalgia for all my 90's kids, well probably for most people reading this. One of the most well known Sum 41 songs got a great face lift from New York producer, Kasum. This remix brings all the feels of an awesome progressive house track, especially the infectious piano playing over the vocals. This song has a very natural flowing feel to it almost as if this was an original. Minimal editing to the vocals add to that feeling as well. Another great thing about this remix is likability. Playing this at any party(whether DJing or using your aux chord magic) will surely bring together a singalong that everyone can be apart of. Best part, its FREE! Make sure you follow Kasum for more great remixes and some new originals in the near future.

GRiZ - "My Vision of Happiness" - Song of the Day (1/4/14)

One listen of this throwback GRiZ song will only make you appreciate the artist he has become today even more. This song goes into the category of Grants old tunes that came out around the time that his first studio album titled "End of the World Party" did in June of 2011. This song has a whole lot of funk with that electro-soul feel on it as one might expect from GRiZ. He's definitely come a long way since this track but it certainly has his recognizable and trademark sound as you might expect. With a new album coming in the spring of this year, we're patiently waiting new content from GRiZ and can't wait till it drops.

Doctor P with Mayhem and Fury @ Beta Nightclub (1-2-15) [Review]

Review By: Justin D'Amico

Friday night was a big one at Beta Nightclub with a killer line-up showcasing three popular electronic producers. Each of them perform a different genre making for a superb variety. Fury representing the Denver area strong with his fast paced drum and bass beats, Mayhem with the illest trap bangers, and Doctor P the dubstep mastermind and co-founder of Circus Records. Beta Nightclub is known for bringing huge names together and Friday was no exception, the place was bouncing all night.

Beta Nightclub is a world renowned venue having been mentioned as one of the best clubs in the country by multiple outlets. It has a capacity of about 950 people and almost every weekend it's sold out. The club is set up with a main floor surrounded by private bottle service areas and a special VIP booth located right beside the DJ booth. Upstairs the balcony surrounds the dance floor with one side for standing room and the other with more private VIP booths. Also a separate room with a second stage is always bumping house music upstairs. The rear of the balcony also has an elevated VIP lounge spot right above the bar. One thing that I love about Beta Nightclub is how they can cool the whole place down with a huge co2 cloud that completely whites out the room. When it gets too hot they shoot out a massive spray of carbon dioxide, it's an exciting and refreshing way to quickly chill out the room.

Fury got things going with a two hour set kicking out the drum and bass jams. He started off with more chill and simple beats, but by the end of his set he had the place fired up. Fury is a Denver junglist with a keen ear for the best drum and bass music. Having Fury set the tone was a perfect way to get the night going.

Next up was Atlanta's own Mayhem, one of the best in the business at producing trap music. Mayhem turned up early in his set with hard hitting beats, and he went hard for the whole hour and a half. Later in the mix Mayhem brought out a friend to rap over the beat for a couple songs adding a little bonus flavor. I am usually very skeptical when it comes to trap producers, but Mayhem continues to amaze me. He is always mixing in new tracks I have never heard before, constantly morphing his set to include the latest and best new music.

Doctor P would close out the night with a naughty dubstep set including all the finest music in the genre. He dropped songs from Datsik, MUST DIE!, Flux Pavilion, and a number of his own bad ass tracks. Doctor P has a clever way of mixing live, he builds up one song while setting up another in his headphones, then right at the drop he switches it up. He rarely plays a song out to the second drop, where the second drop would usually go is exactly when he surprises you with a new one.

Doctor P created a live VIP version of his remix of the Scroobis Pip song "The Struggle" adding extra bass yawns and giving it a new feel using different sounds in the melody. At the end of his set Doctor P made a point to stop about 5 minutes early, this was perfectly planned to get the crowd screaming "One more song!" He knew exactly what he was doing, and he came back out with a perfect encore, "Flying Spaghetti Monster." Just an incredible set from one of the best producers in the industry.

Beta Nightclub is always a destination for big name producers to come and get it poppin off. If you are in the Denver area and haven't been to a show there then you are slacking. They have a massive sound system including four huge Function One speaker towers that pound out the bass proper. Tickets are never too pricey, typically 15-30$, and with some of the big names they bring in it's definitely worth it. Big ups to Fury, Mayhem, and Doctor P for all putting together sicko sets for the people to groove out to.

Eliminate - "Push It" - Song of the Day (1-3-14)

This song is really sneaky, and it's completely gorgeous. "Push It" starts of with a beautiful build up that could go to a trance song, but then all the sudden you are caught in a trap. The drop is succulent, with a number of pleasing sounds to accompany the snare and kick. Trap has evolved into a number of different hybrid styles, but when it's completely off the wall and new that's when I get down. Eliminate makes a bunch of different electronic music, not just trap and not just dubstep. Check out more from Eliminate on his soundcloud page here.

Flume - Insane (ft. Moon Holiday) - Song Of The Day - 1/2/2015

Harley Edward Streten aka "Flume," has just turned the shy age of 23 and is already creating a high standing position for himself in the world of electronic dance music. You can even say he is far past that stature, having won four ARIA awards including Best Male Artist and Producer of the Year. He is also one of two people that make up the group What So Not, a collaboration producing music leaning more toward the trap style along with the notable Emoh Instead. But back to this spectacular jam, "Insane," an original production alongside the female singer Moon Holiday, is one consisting of spooky undertones and melodic futuristic bass. Both artists belong to the Australian label Future Classic, and it is safe to say they compliment each other well in this haunting and beautiful track. It is Friday, people, so go insane!
